Beta Earth: Sovereignty — Second Chances
A downloadable game for Windows
Every collapse leaves a trail. Learn to read it.
You wake in Sprawl 15 with a rebuilt body, an uncertain debt, and a world that keeps moving whether you are ready or not. Follow tracks through rain and ruined corridors, separate evidence from rumor, and decide which crises deserve the time you have left.
Beta Earth: Sovereignty — Second Chances is a free, single-player science-fiction survival RPG told through a cinematic command HUD. Build a character, read the battlefield, cross hostile regions, and carry hard-earned knowledge into the next run.
Current build: v0.74.1 Arrival Grace & Second Chance Coaching for Windows 64-bit. The game is in active development.
Start with a breath. Learn from the fall.
- Arrival Grace. New characters get one calm orientation window before nearby hostiles begin moving.
- A clean start to combat. Choose
READY, take a hostile action, or leave the opening area to start every nearby combat clock from a fresh state. - Second Chance coaching. Early defeats can surface concise guidance at deaths 1, 4, 7, 10, and onward through level 10, built only from evidence your character actually witnessed.
- Safe updates. Grace and coaching persist across saves, while existing saves never receive a surprise mid-run pause.
Turn observation into survival
- Read the ground. Use
TRACKSto find region-bound evidence in terrain, weather, and visible threats. Clues from one region cannot magically solve another. - Build a field record. Six investigations emerge through observation. The Field Archive keeps observed, reported, confirmed, and contested knowledge distinct.
- Learn without spoilers. Failure autopsies reconstruct only the pressures you actually witnessed, turning a lost route into practical knowledge.
- Choose what the world remembers. Named NPCs travel, competing demands advance with consequential actions, and factions interpret the same deed in different ways.
- Fight for more than a kill. Pressure, feint, disarm, suppress, threaten, break, or surrender when the target and situation allow it. Machines and beasts will not accept a social way out.
A large world behind one focused feed
Explore 118 authored locations and 70 quests across eight Survival Push corridors, with 44 creatures, 35 NPCs, 19 shelters, persistent world conditions, and a developing partnership with Sol.
The World Feed remains the main play surface. Scroll back to inspect history while combat, weather, NPC travel, and world pressure continue; unread markers and Latest/End bring you back to live events.
Choose the pressure you want
- Standard is the recommended first experience: readable danger, full enemy behavior, and room to learn.
- Fear and Hunger Track 1 is an extreme contract with faster, more accurate enemies and tighter food, clothing, and temperature pressure—without inflating enemy maximum health.
- Choose from 15 classes, use the recommended foundation, or spend the same weighted stat budget yourself.
Download, extract, begin
This is a downloadable Windows 64-bit game. Its HUD opens locally in your browser, while play and saves remain on your computer. The required runtime is included: no separate installation, game account, subscription, administrator access, remote service, or internet connection is required.
- Download and extract the complete ZIP into a new writable folder. Do not launch from inside the ZIP.
- Open
START_BETA_EARTH_SECOND_CHANCES.bat. - For a first run, try Standard, Soldier, recommended attributes, and Guided Start.
Progress saves locally after meaningful actions. Keep the launch window open while playing and use Save and quit before closing it. Before updating, preserve your previous extracted folder or back up runtime/second_chances.
Free to play. Support is optional.
The complete build is free. If you would like to support continued development, you may leave an optional donation. Choose “No thanks, just take me to the downloads” to download without paying. Donations unlock no extra content.
Development notes & content
In development. This is a substantial playable release, not a finished full-length campaign. Expect text-heavy encounters and a systems-focused interface rather than a fully animated 3D world.
Content notes: fictional violence, injury, death and reconstruction, coercive institutions, and survival hardship. Adjustable transcript size, optional guidance, and separate music/effect controls are available. Formal screen-reader certification and gamepad support are not claimed.
